It's official: nature is in crisis, and so are we.
For too long, nature has been seen as optional—a mere interest rather than a necessity—contributing significantly to its decline. The reality is that nature is everyone’s responsibility; it sustains us and provides life for future generations. We've become so disconnected from the natural world that our relationship with it hangs by a thread.
Many adults I encounter lack even the basics of nature knowledge, and without that understanding, it becomes incredibly difficult to care for and protect the environment. We need to find a way to ensure that everyone has at least a fundamental grasp of nature's importance. Our modern world has certainly created a culture of desire over need and unless this changes there really is little chance we will solve the crisis before we reach the tipping point.
